Ready to relive your YouTube year? Get ready, because YouTube is unveiling its very first video recap, giving you a personalized look back at your viewing habits! For years, we've enjoyed Spotify Wrapped, and now YouTube is joining the end-of-year recap party. This new feature allows you to dive deep into the content you loved most.
YouTube Recap offers up to 12 personalized cards, each a window into your YouTube universe. You'll see your top channels, the topics that captivated you, and even how your viewing tastes evolved throughout the year. But here's where it gets interesting: the recap also assigns you a personality type based on your viewing preferences.
For example, are you a "Skill Builder," always eager to learn new things? Or perhaps a "Sunshiner," drawn to content that brightens your day? Maybe you're a "Trailblazer," seeking out original and boundary-pushing videos. Other personality types include "Wonder Seeker," "Connector," and "Dreamer," each reflecting a unique viewing style.
And this is the part most people miss: While you'll get a glimpse of your top artists and songs, the real deep dive happens in the YouTube Music app with its own annual recap, which launched last week.
The YouTube Recap is rolling out now, starting with users in North America and expanding globally this week. You can find your recap directly on the YouTube homepage or under the "You" tab, accessible on both mobile devices and desktops.
YouTube says this feature was born from user requests, with over 50 concept tests before the final product.
In addition to the Recap, YouTube is also releasing trend charts showcasing the top creators, podcasts, and songs of the year. MrBeast reigns supreme as the top creator for the sixth year running. "The Joe Rogan Experience" takes the crown for top podcast, and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga secure the top song spot with "Die with a Smile."
Controversy & Comment Hooks: The YouTube Recap arrives on the same day as Apple Music's Replay and Amazon Music's 2025 Delivered, putting the pressure on Spotify to release its highly anticipated Wrapped. Is this a sign of a new competitive landscape in the music and video streaming world? What do you think about the trend of personalized year-end recaps? Share your thoughts in the comments!
