Unstoppable and Unbeaten: Team India Crush Switzerland to Storm into Junior Hockey World Cup Quarter-Finals
India’s young hockey stars have done it again — remaining unbeaten and blazing their way into the quarter-finals of the Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2025. In a commanding display on Tuesday at the Madurai International Hockey Stadium, they dismantled Switzerland with a stunning 5–0 win.
But here's where it gets interesting — not only did India secure three straight victories, they haven’t conceded a single goal in the entire tournament so far. That’s dominance on a whole new level.
Manmeet Singh, celebrating his birthday in style, struck twice within the first 11 minutes (2’, 11’), setting the tone for the match. His quickfire goals left the Swiss defense scrambling. Sharda Nand Tiwari joined the scoring drive soon after with a penalty corner conversion in the 13th minute, stretching India’s lead to 3–0 before the first quarter was even over.
Arshdeep Singh, who had bagged a hat-trick against Oman earlier, added another to his tally in the 28th minute. His goal was a reminder of why he's one of the most consistent finishers in this competition. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Prince Deep Singh stood tall between the posts, pulling off impressive saves to ensure another clean sheet for India.
As the game progressed, the Indian squad showcased not just skill but also discipline — maintaining pressure, controlling possession, and keeping the Swiss side on the defensive. And just when it seemed the score was set, Sharda Nand Tiwari struck again in the 54th minute, completing his brace and sealing India’s emphatic 5–0 victory. No surprise that he was named Player of the Match.
With this win, India comfortably topped Pool B with nine points from three matches. Their earlier 7–0 and 17–0 demolitions of Chile and Oman respectively already hinted at their form — but their defensive record makes the real statement.
